Father's Day in Denver includes a variety of fun things to do with dear ol' dad. You can head over Mile High Stadium for the Denver BBQ Festival, spend the day with the family at the Father's Day Car Show in Arvada, or savor some scrumptious Mediterranean classics at the Greek Festival.

You can also see a concert, head to Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center, or explore the foothills on a guided tour that leaves from the city's center. 

This year, Father's Day falls on Sunday, June 17.

Father's Day Weekend Concerts

Enjoy a concert with your dad this weekend in Denver. You will find a variety of options all around town.

Top picks on Saturday night include Odesza at Red Rocks, Foam Wonderland at the National Western Events Center, and Aly & AJ at the Marquis Theater. Sunday's top concerts include Dispatch, Nahko, and Medicine for the People at Red Rocks, Kesha & Macklemore at the Pepsi Center, and .38 Special at the Hudson Gardens & Event Center in Littleton.

This weekend, you will also find the Northern Colorado Metal Fest just an hour north of Denver in Fort Collins.

Comic Con


One of the most popular events this Fathers Day in Denver is Comic Con. Throw on your favorite costume and head over to the Colorado Convention Center for a weekend full of celebrities, finding gifts and one of a kind items, and so much more.

Top celebrities attending this year in Denver include Skeet Ulrich, David Harbour, and Jason Lewis. Other celebrity guests include Molly Ringwald, Cress Williams, and Gaten Matarazzo.

Denver BBQ Festival

6/15 - 6/17

Mile High Stadium is where you will find one of the best events this Father's Day in Denver. This year's Denver BBQ Festival is three days of eating BBQ, drinking the best local brews and listening to some of our most popular Denver bands. 

Over the three days, you can also learn more about how to become the best grill master on your block during BBQ workshops. There is also a VIP section where you can mingle with other top BBQ experts. The event is free, but you must buy tickets to the workshops and to get into the VIP area.

Theater Performances: Fathers Day in Denver

The biggest performance this weekend is the Broadway hit, The Book of Mormon. Written by the creators of South Park, this hilarious musical follows to naive and friendly young men on a mission in Uganda as they work to spread the word about their religion. 

You will find performances on Friday and Saturday. There are also two shows on Sunday at 2pm and 7:30pm.

Denver Greek Festival


It's time to Greek out at the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral! Your family doesn't have to be Greek to attend Denver's 53rd annual festival honoring the culture of this beautiful Mediterranean country. 

Watch traditional dances; listen to live music; and browse artwork, jewelry, books, and photography. The best part is sure to be the tasty authentic Greek dishes and pastries. There are also family-friendly games and activities, tours of the cathedral, and a chance to win two airline tickets to Greece.

The event runs from 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. The hours on Sunday are from 11am to 6pm. Opa!

Foothills Explorer Tour From Denver

6/16 & 6/17 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. 

Get out of town with dad during this four-hour trip to the scenic Denver foothills. Adventurers will meet at Union Station in downtown before heading out to take in gorgeous views at Lookout Mountain and Lariat Loop. See Red Rocks Amphitheater, an acoustically perfect outdoor concert venue carved out by Mother Nature. You'll also get to stop at small historic towns along the way and visit Buffalo Bill Cody's gravesite and museum.

Father's Day Car Show in Arvada

6/17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If your dad has a classic car, or just loves to look at them, bring him to Arvada for its 14th annual Father's Day Car Show. There's also a fun run, 5K, and 10K on the grounds. Guests will enjoy food, live music, and family activities. 

Admission is free for spectators. Car registration is $25 at pre-registration or $30 the day of the event if you want to show off your wheels!

This Father's Day in Denver event is at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Ave. in Arvada.

'Thunder on the Mountain' at Bandimere Speedway

6/15 & 6/16

Head out to the drag strip for a Father's Day weekend featuring NHRA Sportsman Classes, Bandimere Classes, NHRA Harley-Davidson Classes, and funny cars.

Spend Friday with dad watching time trials, qualifying, and the women's expo. Then return on Saturday for the preliminary and final eliminations and ceremonies. 

Friday's event runs from 8am to 8pm and on Saturday it's from 8am to 10pm. All races are at Bandimere Speedway, 3051 S. Rooney Road in Morrison.

Father's Day Baseball


The Colorado Rockies are on the road this weekend, but you can still catch some baseball this Father's Day Weekend. Colorado Springs is home to the Triple A team for the Milwaukee Brewers. This weekend, they take on the Las Vegas 51s (Triple A Team for the New York Mets) and the Salt Lake Bees (the Triple A Team for the Los Angeles Angels). All three games are at Security Service Field in Colorado Springs, which is about an hour south of Denver.

Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco

6/14 - 6/16

Treat your dad to some mouth-watering barbecue at the Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Now in its 25th year, the event features more than 70 barbecuers, live music, pig races, activities for children, and a firefighter cook-off.

On Saturday, the day begins with a 6K "Bacon Burner" fun run at 9:30 a.m. and ends at various local restaurants offering happy hour drink specials.

The kick off concert is on Thursday from 8pm to 9:30pm (no BBQ). Friday's event runs from 11am to 9pm. Saturday's event runs from 10am to 6pm. All events for the Colorado BBQ Challenge are at 300 Main Street in Frisco, CO.
