About Denver Sports Teams

We are very proud of our professional teams and the championships they've won.

  • Broncos: 3 Super Bowl Championships
  • Avalanche: 2 Stanley Cups
  • Rapids: 1 MLS Cup
  • Outlaws: 1 Steinfeld Cup
  • Mammoth: 1 Champion's Cup

The best part about the Denver sports teams is that they all play near downtown. This makes it easy to get to a game.

  • Broncos and Outlaws play at Empower Field at Mile High which is just to the west of downtown Denver.
  • Avalanche, Nuggets, and Mammoth play in the Pepsi Center which is also just to the west of downtown Denver.
  • Rockies play at Coors Field on the northern end of downtown.
  • Rapids play just outside of Denver in Commerce City. It's an easy 15 to 20 minute drive from downtown.

Team Schedules by Month

Below you will find a quick overview of the regular season for each team. Some have pre-season games and playoffs. Only the regular season games are included in the schedule below.

Denver Broncos Football - NFL

Denver Broncos

2015 Super Bowl Champions
3 Total Super Bowl Wins
August (Preseason), September to January (Regular Season)

The Denver Broncos football team is one of the best teams to watch during your stay. They are the pride of the city and the team loves their fans too. They have won three Super Bowl championships and are currently in the AFC West Division.

They play all of their games at Empower Field at Mile High. You can easily walk here from downtown or take public transit to the stadium. It's one of my favorite places to catch an NFL game.

Their preseason starts in August and the season lasts from September - January. Additional games will be added if they make it to the playoffs, which means you might even be able to catch a game up until late January or early February.

Colorado Rockies Baseball - MLB

Colorado Rockies

1 NL Pennant
April to October

I absolutely love baseball season. It's a great time of year to grab a hot dog, sit back, and cheer on the Colorado Rockies. Coors Field is a fun place to catch a game and I try to attend as many games as possible.

From April to September (or early October), the Rockies play host to many top teams such as the San Francisco Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. They are currently in the National League.

While you are in the stadium, make sure to look around for the purple row of seats. This row is exactly one mile high!

If you love baseball, then a game at Coors Field is a must during your visit!

Colorado Avalanche Hockey - NHL

2 Stanley Cups Championships
9 Division Championships
October to April

A Colorado Avalanche hockey game is another fun sport event. They are one of three Denver Sports teams that play in the Pepsi Center.

During the game, you will be taken on a thrilling adventure with high energy plays and a dedicated crowd. Their preseason starts in September with the regular season from October to April. If they make it to the playoffs, you might be able to catch a game through the end of May.

Denver Nuggets Basketball - NBA

Denver Nuggets

October to April

Our NBA team is the Denver Nuggets. Even though they have struggled through the years, it's always fun to catch a game at the Pepsi Center.

Tickets are fairly inexpensive for a professional team and they are easy to come by. The Pepsi Center is also easy to get to as it's just on the western side of the downtown area.

They also do quite a few fun promotions and the crowd really gets going during the games.

Colorado Rapids Soccer - MLS

Colorado Rapids

1 MLS Championship
May to October

The Colorado Rapids is one of the 10 charter clubs in the MLS that formed during the leagues very first season in 1995. They are strong contenders in the league with one championship in 2010.

The Rapids play in a suburb of Denver called Commerce City. It's just outside the city and is an easy 15 to 20 minute drive from downtown.

All games are played in Dick's Sporting Goods Park. These games are a perfect family outing or for anyone that loves the sport of soccer.

You will find them playing between May and October.

Denver Outlaws Outdoor Lacrosse - MLL

Denver Outlaws

1 MLL Championship
May to July

The Denver Outlaws are one of two lacrosse teams here. This Denver sports team plays outdoor lacrosse.

The team started in 2006 and has been building a loyal following since. They have led the league in attendance to their home games since their very first season.

The reason for the crowds is that this team is on fire. In 2014, they won their first MLL Championship (the Steinfeld Cup). All of their games are at Mile High.

Colorado Mammoth Indoor Lacrosse - NLL

Mammoth Lacrosse

1 NLL Championship
January to April

The final Denver sports team on our list is the Colorado Mammoth. This indoor lacrosse team is part of the NLL (National Lacrosse League).

The team played their first season here in 2003. Their previous homes include Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Washington.

The Mammoth have definitely found a great home here in Denver. In 2008, they drew in a bigger average audience to the Pepsi Center than either the Nuggets or the Avalanche.

Their season runs from January to April. You might also catch them in a playoff game in May or early June.

If you want a unique and fun Denver sports experience, then check out our very own Colorado Mammoth.
