The Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse Team is a professional team that plays indoors in the National Lacrosse League. They play their games at the Pepsi Center from January to April every year.
When we get the chance to cheer them on into the playoffs, these games will run into May and (we hope!) early June.
They are an exciting team to watch and a great way to spend a little time in the Mile High City!

Home to the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team, The Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche, the Pepsi Center is one of the best stadiums anywhere in the USA. It opened in 1999 with a Celine Dion concert and has been home to many other concerts and events including the 2008 Democratic National convention and numerous UFC battles.
The team is always in the hunt for the championship and won it back in 2006. The Pepsi Center has a capacity of 18,007 seats for the Colorado Mammoth games, and you are sure to get a great view of the field no matter where you sit.
Something that you'll appreciate when you go to a game here is the easy access by mass transit, so you don't have to drive, deal with traffic, or pay for parking. You can take the bus lines, MallRide, and Light Rail so you'll have your choice from the many options depending on your location. You can even ride a bike as they have bike parking in three different lots around the center.
You will find a number of great hotels in and around the Pepsi Center. Here are just a few of my favorites.
SpringHill Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown: This hotel is only about a 5 minute walk to the Pepsi Center. It's the closest hotel and allows you to walk to the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse games. It's a three-star hotel that is also close to downtown Denver. Check prices and availability on Booking.com.
The Oxford Hotel: Another great option near the Pepsi Center is the Oxford Hotel. This historic gem is a four-star hotel with all of the amenities. It's just steps from Union Station and about half mile from the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse games. Find out more here.
The Westin Denver Downtown: Another great option is The Westin Denver Downtown. It's a 4-star hotel that is close to the action including the 16th Street Mall, theater, and more. It's just under a mile from the Pepsi Center. More here.
As I mentioned above, there are loads of ways to get to the Pepsi Center for the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse games. They've really made it convenient to see their games and any other event that you might want to attend here.
Here are just a few ways to get to the Pepsi Center with the first being mass transit since it is so easy and convenient compared to driving.
Buses: There is an RTD bus stop that is is right beside the Pepsi Center at the Auraria parkway and 9th Street. The buses arriving and departing from here are the 1, the 15L, and the 20.
MallRide: This is a great choice if you are near the 16th Street Mall since it is a free shuttle. This shuttle runs for 2 miles north and south and will drop you at the Wewatta Street station and is only a 10 minute walk from there.
Light Rail: There are a number of lines depending on where you are staying while you enjoy the Mile High City. Here is an easy to use list:
The C, D & E Lines all run to and from the Littleton/Mineral Light Rail Station with stops at the Pepsi Center.
The F Line runs to and from the Lincoln Light Rail Station and stops at the Pepsi Center.
The H Line runs to and from the Nine Mile Light Rail Station with a stop at the Pepsi Center and then continues down to 16th Street in Downtown Denver.
Driving Directions: Even though I suggest taking mass transit, here are the directions to the Pepsi Center:
If you are coming from the South, you will want to take the I-25 North towards Denver. Then take exit 210B for Auraria Parkway. After you merge onto it, turn left on either 7th Street, 9th Street, or 11th Street to enter the parking grounds at the Pepsi Center.
If you are coming from the North, you will want to take I-25 South toward Denver. You will then want to take the 212B exit heading to Downtown Denver. Take a left turn when you get to Speer Boulevard and at the second stop light, make a right turn into Chopper Circle to find parking here.
If you are already in Downtown Denver, it is very easy to drive to the Pepsi Center for your Denver Mammoth Lacrosse game since you just take Speer Boulevard to Auraria Parkway. Take a left on Auraria and turn right on 7th, 9th or 11th Street. This will allow you to enter the parking areas to the arena.
Cycling: This is a fun and easy way to get to the arena. You simply take the multi-use Cherry Creek Trail and drive down Auraria Parkway until you reach the Pepsi Center. I really like this one because it is safe, you get to see the sights, and don't have to stress about it since there are bicycle racks at the Grand Atrium, the East Atrium, and the Toyota Prius Lot South.
Another option if you want to ride but don't have your own bike is to use the Denver B-cycle system. There are dozens of bike stations around downtown and you can pick a bike up, and drop it off, at one of the many stations. There is a B-cycle station at the entrance just west of the Pepsi Center's Grand Atrium and another near the Toyota Camry Lot North.
Lyft/Uber/Taxi: You can always use any of these options if you don't want to drive, use mass transit or cycle to the stadium. Just make sure to plan ahead as traffic can get busy and you don't want to miss your game stuck in it. That being stated, it can definitely make your trip easier and you might even get some inside information since your driver will be a local and could be a Mammoth fan!
If you are looking for a nice bite, and possibly a drink or two, before or after the game, here are just a few of the places I'd suggest. You can always get your fill at the Pepsi Center during the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse games.
Brooklyn's at the Pepsi Center: This is the closest and easiest place to get some food and drinks if you are going to the game since it is right around the corner from the arena. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere, fast service, and lots of choices for you to enjoy. Make sure to plan ahead as it often gets quite busy before or after games. 901 Auraria Parkway
Tivoli Brewing Company Tap House: With over 50 beers on tap, including many of their own, you know you'll find something to wet your whistle here. The tap house has loads of food options also including diverse options such as potstickers, nachos, the Carnitas Cuban, and the Mile High Dog. 900 Auraria Parkway
Rhein Haus Denver: The Rhein Haus is a must visit because they have great beer, great food, and also great bocce ball courts! This massive restaurant will make you think you are in Europe and you will definitely have a great time. Their homemade sausage and fresh baked pretzels are utterly delicious! Make sure to give yourselves some time as you will not want to leave. 1415 Market Street #1706
Degree Metropolitan Food + Drink: If you are looking for something a little more upscale before or after the game, then this is the perfect place for you. Everything they serve is locally sourced, grown, and of the highest quality. Some of my favs include the Beet Poke Bowl, Thai Shrimp Summer Rolls, and the Grilled Pedigree Hot Dog. You might want to make reservations as they can get very busy. 1190 Auraria Parkway
The team is a box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League. They originally played in other cities until local Stan Kroenke bought them and moved them to the Mile High City. They started playing in Denver during the 2003 season and have been in the Pepsi Center since the day they moved here.
During the 2006 season, the Mammoth had a fantastic season and they won the Champion's Cup by beating the Buffalo Bandits with a score of 16 - 9. To make this even more magical, 2006 was also the the first year the league had over 1,000,000 fans in attendance. Even better than that is that the 1,000,000th fan was actually at a Mammoth game in the Pepsi Center. How cool is that?
Speaking of fan attendance, most people wouldn't guess this, but the Mammoth games actually had higher attendance than the Pepsi Center's other pro teams including the NHL's Avalanche and the NBA's Denver Nuggets. You can impress your friends, and even the hardcore local fans, with that bit of knowledge when you are here.
The Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team has had a number of famous NLL players including Gary Gait, who previously led the league as the all-time scoring leader with 596 goals and was the 2003 league MVP. John Grants Jr., who was the 2012 MVP, and Joey Cupido, who won the 2015 and 2018 Transition Player of the Year Award.
Even if you've never seen a box lacrosse game, you will definitely want to check one out and watch the action live and in person. It is fast, fun and you can be sure to get a great seat and cheer on the Mammoth to a huge win!
