You will find two large Broadway shows this month in Denver. The first is The School of Rock (5/29-6/10). It's the funny tale of a down and out rock star turned substitute teacher. He is desperate to win an upcoming Battle of the Bands contest and forms a new group with his students. The show runs about 2 and a half hours with one intermission.
The second large Broadway show this month is The Book of Mormon (6/13-7/1). This hilarious production is written by the creators of South Park. See what happens when two young, naive missionaries try to spread the word of their religion throughout Uganda.
Denver plays host to many great performers this month. Some of the biggest shows include the Violent Femmes at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Steely Dan + The Doobie Brothers at the Pepsi Center, and Kenney Chesney, Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, + Brandon Lay at Mile High Stadium.
Other highlights this month include Ween, Widespread Panic, and Big Head Todd & The Monsters at Red Rocks. You will also find some great shows at Fiddler's Green including Styx with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as well as the I Love the 90's show featuring Salt N' Pepa, Vanilla Ice, Montell Jordan and others.
June is a great month to get outdoors to root on Denver's pro sports teams. They are also some of my favorite Denver events in June.
The Colorado Rockies host 13 home games this month at Coors Field. This month, they play host to Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, and New York Mets. All games are at Coors Field in LoDo.

Bassnectar is back in Colorado this Summer! This year's Bassnectar Freestyle Sessions Summer Gathering is at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield. For three nights, you will experience a mash-up with both new and old school music. This year's theme is once again Freestyle, Dreamtempo & Wildstyle. Headliners include Mala, Nightmares on Wax, and Pendulum.
One of the best Denver events in June is Cocktails on the Rocks. This fun in the sun event is at Red Rocks in the foothills in Morrison. It features 4-hours of tasting some of Denver and Colorado's top spirits. Food and retail vendors will also be on hand. The event runs from 12pm to 4pm on Saturday, June 2.
Pack your favorite costume for Comic Con, which comes to the Colorado Convention Center June 15-17. The family-friendly fan event features comic books, video games, films, and science fiction and horror literature.
Big-name guests this year include Skeet Ulrich (Scream, The Craft), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Game of Thrones, The Awakening), and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). Other guests this year include Mark Sheppard (Battlestar Galactica, Firefly), Molly Ringwald (Kingfish, For Keeps, Breakfast Club), and Andrew McCarthy (The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Joy Luck Club, Pretty in Pink).
It's one of the best Denver events in June, so make sure to get your tickets early!
6/16 & 6/17
On June 16 and 17, the LGBT community shows its pride at Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. The always-fun and spirited parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday at Cheesman Park.
This year more than 350,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which also features a pet costume contest, the Big Gay 5K, films, music, and more activities.
The festival is from 11am to 7pm on Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday. The festival is free to enter.

This Father's Day Weekend head to Mile High Stadium for The Denver BBQ Festival. All weekend long, they will be BBQing more than 18k pounds of meat. You can also wash it down with some of the best local brews as you listen to live music. It will also include some family-friendly activities. Admission is free on both Saturday and Sunday.
Do you want to improve your skills? If so, then check out some of the masterclasses they are offering all weekend long. Each session is focused on one aspect of BBQing. You can also pick up tickets for Friday night and VIP tickets for both Saturday or Sunday.
Festival season is in full swing in June. Whether you're into ethnic food, art or music, there's a festival sure to catch your eye during your stay in Denver.

You will love Denver's museums and the best way to see them at a discount is with the Mile High Culture Pass. This pass includes entry into the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Sciences as well as others. 6/4, 6/11, & 6/18
Film on the Rocks is a fun way to spend an evening at the gorgeous Red Rocks Amphitheater. This month, you will find three movies at Red Rocks. The first is 10 Things I Hate About You (6/4), the second is The Grand Budapest Hotel (6/11), and the final show is Heathers (6/18).
The doors open at 6:30pm. The band(s) start playing at 7pm and then the movie will start at dusk. Tickets are $15 per person.
Like to laugh? Then check out a comedy show while you're in town. Denver has some great improv and comedy clubs, including the famous Comedy Works Downtown.
Highlights this month include Kevin Hart, Anthony Jeselnik, and William Shatner.
The Denver Century Ride is an annual race that takes you all around the streets of Denver. There are four course lengths: 100 miles, 85 miles, 50 miles, and 25 miles. It's a great ride for professionals and ameteurs.
All routes start and finish at the Shops at Northfield Stapleton. After the ride, enjoy live music, cold brews, and gourmet goodies at the Rockin' Street Fair.
Denver Arts & Venues is offering several free walking tours. These free Denver events in June offer you the chance to learn more about the public art all around town. One tour focuses on the Golden Triangle where you will hear all about the pieces around the Denver Art Museum and its district. Others include free walks in City Park, the Civic Center District, and along the 14th Street corridor.
Tour sizes are limited, so you must register in advance to grab your spot.
A great way to get some culture while in Denver is to take advantage of the city's free museum days. Every month, top museums including the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Sciences, and the Children's Museum offer free admission all day or for certain hours in the day.

6/22 & 6/23
Spent the afternoon enjoying unique and handmade arts and crafts at the 16th Street Fair. For two days in June, this free event features dozens of local and emerging artists showcasing their latest works. The event runs from 11am to 7pm both days.
6/8 & 6/9
If you love classic and exotic cars, you will find them this June at the Colorado Convention Center. Mecum Auctions is a well known auction house that focuses on rebuilt cars that are in pristine condition. During the event, you can stroll through the inventory and watch the auction live. You can also pick up one of these amazing pieces of art yourself. Admission is $20 per person and the auction starts at 10am both days.
Venture outside of Denver to fun activities such as the 41st anniversary of the Renaissance Festival in Larkspur. Return to the setting and lifestyle of yesteryear beginning June 16. The festival runs every weekend through August 5.
Travel to Boulder for Bands on the Bricks — a free 10-week concert series every Wednesday beginning on June 6 and ending August 8.
Take a trip to Holyoke for its annual Dandelion Daze on June 23. It features a garage sale, 5K run/walk, car and bike shows, crafts, vendors, food booths, music, and activities for kids.
Head to Boulder for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The season opens June 8 with "Love's Labour's Lost." Other shows playing this season include "Richard III," "You Can't Take It With You," and "Cyrano de Bergerac."
