The Lion King
Dates: 5/13 - 6/14
You will find two large Broadway shows this month in Denver. The first is The Lion King. This beloved family favorite won Best Musical because of its incredible high-flying performances, out of this world costumes, incredible songs, and so much more. The darling Simba is proclaimed as the Lion King when he is just a young lion. However, Scar, is angry and vows revenge since he feels he should be the lion king. Who ends up winning the day and the title? This show is for all ages and there is one intermission.
The Book of Mormon
Dates: 6/9 - 6/28
The second large Broadway show this month is The Book of Mormon. This hilarious musical was written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who are the originators of South Park. During this show, two Mormon missionaries are sent to Africa as they try to preach and convert the people in the town. However, the preachers learn more about others, and their beliefs, and love ends up prevailing with everyone coming together. There is one intermission during the show.
Denver plays host to many great musicians during this month. Denver has become known as a wonderful destinations for live music and you will be able to find many concerts, and cool venues, to choose from while you are here.

June is a great month to get outdoors to root on Denver's pro sports teams. They are also some of my favorite Denver events in June.
The Colorado Rockies host 13 home games this month at Coors Field. This month, they play host to San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Kansas City Royals. All games are at Coors Field in LoDo.

Bassnectar is back in Colorado this Summer! This year's Bassnectar Freestyle Sessions Summer Gathering is at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield. For three nights, you will experience a mash-up with both new and old school music. This year's theme is once again Freestyle, Dreamtempo & Wildstyle. Headliners include Mala, Nightmares on Wax, and Pendulum.
One of the best Denver events in June is Cocktails on the Rocks. This fun in the sun event is at Red Rocks in the foothills in Morrison. It features 4-hours of tasting some of Denver and Colorado's top spirits. Food and retail vendors will also be on hand. The event runs dates and time have not been decided yet.

On June 20th and 21st, the LGBT community shows its pride at Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. The always-fun and spirited parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday at Cheesman Park.
This year more than 350,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which also features a pet costume contest, the Big Gay 5K, films, music, and more activities.
The festival is from 11 am to 7 pm on Saturday and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday. The festival is free to enter.

Dates: Friday, 6/19 - Sunday, 6/21
This Father's Day Weekend head to Mile High Stadium for The Denver BBQ Festival. All weekend long, they will be BBQing more than 18k pounds of meat. You can also wash it down with some of the best local brews as you listen to live music. It will also include some family-friendly activities. Admission is free on both Saturday and Sunday.
Do you want to improve your skills? If so, then check out some of the masterclasses they are offering all weekend long. Each session is focused on one aspect of BBQing. You can also pick up tickets for Friday night and VIP tickets for both Saturday or Sunday.
Festival season is in full swing in June. Whether you're into ethnic food, art or music, there's a festival sure to catch your eye during your stay in Denver.

June 21st Father's Day, and Denver offers many fun activities that you can share with your dad. Consider taking him to a the Denver BBQ Festival, a showing of the Book of Mormon, or one of several festivals this weekend.

You will love Denver's museums and the best way to see them at a discount is with the Mile High Culture Pass. This pass includes entry into the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Sciences as well as others. You will also get some great deals on other museum and activities around town.
It's a great way to save on your stay as you see as much as possible.

Film on the Rocks is a fun way to spend an evening at the gorgeous Red Rocks Amphitheater. This month, you will find three movies at Red Rocks.
The doors open at 6:30pm. The band(s) start playing at 7pm and then the movie will start at dusk. Tickets are $15 per person.
Like to laugh? Then check out a comedy show while you're in town. Denver has some great improv and comedy clubs, including the famous Comedy Works Downtown.
Highlights this month include Tm Green,Christopher Titus, and others.
Date: Saturday, 6/20
The Denver Century Ride is an annual race that takes you all around the streets of Denver. There are four course lengths: 100 miles, 85 miles, 50 miles, and 25 miles. It's a great ride for professionals and amateurs.
All routes start and finish at the Shops at Northfield Stapleton. After the ride, enjoy live music, cold brews, and gourmet goodies at the Rockin' Street Fair.
Denver Arts & Venues is offering several free walking tours. These free Denver events in June offer you the chance to learn more about the public art all around town. One tour focuses on the Golden Triangle where you will hear all about the pieces around the Denver Art Museum and its district. Others include free walks in City Park, the Civic Center District, and along the 14th Street corridor.
Tour sizes are limited, so you must register in advance to grab your spot.
A great way to get some culture while in Denver is to take advantage of the city's free museum days. Every month, top museums including the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Sciences, and the Children's Museum offer free admission all day or for certain hours in the day.

Spent the afternoon enjoying unique and handmade arts and crafts at the 16th Street Fair. For two days in June, this free event features dozens of local and emerging artists showcasing their latest works. The event runs from 11am to 7pm both days.
Venture outside of Denver to fun activities such as the 42nd anniversary of the Renaissance Festival in Larkspur. Return to the setting and lifestyle of yesteryear beginning June 13th. The festival runs every weekend through August 2nd.
Travel to Boulder for Bands on the Bricks — a free 10-week concert series every Wednesday beginning on June 3rd and ending August 5th.
Take a trip to Holyoke for its annual Dandelion Daze in June. It features a garage sale, 5K run/walk, car and bike shows, crafts, vendors, food booths, music, and activities for kids. Dates to be decided.
Head to Boulder for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The season opens June 5th with "A Midsummer's Night Dream." Other shows playing this season include "All's Well that Ends Well", "The odyssey", "Coriolanus", and "Pericles".
