Some of the Denver events in August include only one Broadway show this month. It is the highly acclaimed Anastasia at the Buell Theater. This show is based on the film of the same name and takes you on a wild ride as Anya tries to find out about her past. This wonderful musical will transport you from the Russian Empire all the way to Paris. The show is ages 7 and above and lasts 2 hours and 25 minutes with one intermission.
If you are interested in seeing some less known shows, in smaller venues, then Denver has many options for you also. Make sure to check the calendar and find just the right show for you when you visit the Mile High City.

The Colorado Rockies will be at home this August. They play host to a variety of teams including the San Francisco Giants, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Miami Marlins, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
There are a total of 14 home games this month and all games are at Coors Field in downtown Denver.

If you want to check out some of the other venues to see other concerts in August, some of the best locations include The Pepsi Center, The Paramount Theatre and Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom. One of the things I enjoy most about some of these other venues is that they are both small and intimate so you can get up close and personal to your favorite bands.

Spend a night at the Pepsi Center as you enjoy a high-energy Cirque du Soleil performance. This year's show is Corteo.
It's a celebration of the life of Mauro, a popular local clown that has passed away. Instead of mourning, his friends and family decide to throw him a party and create happiness in the same way Mauro did in life.
You will find high-flying acrobatics, colorful costumes, and other wonderful performances.

There is no better of the Denver events in August than seeing a movie in the spectacular Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Not only will you see a fun movie during your visit, you will also be able to enjoy live music and even see a comedian perform if you are lucky.
The first show presented was The Godfather and 65,000 people attended. Even though the venue holds many people, it is always best to purchase your tickets in advance so you can get exactly what you want since there are different levels of experiences.
This months films are The Mighty Ducks (8/5) and Free Solo (8/19). Doors open at 6:30 with bands starting at 7 pm and the movie beings at dusk.
The River North (RiNo) District has taken off in the last few years and is one of the top brewery destinations in the US. With more than a dozen breweries in this one district, you are sure to find a few brews to enjoy.
Head over to the district for their First Friday event (8/2). Starting at around 6 pm, you will find special activities to celebrate the new month including art displays, live music, and more. It's a great time to check out this district.

The Denver Broncos have two preseason home games this year this month. Rated as one of the most popular Denver events in August, the Denver Broncos games are sure to be a hit with your entire family. Plus, there is no better place to see a game than in Mile High Stadium.
This month, the San Francisco 49ers will rumble into town on 8/19 at 6 pm. The Broncos will then take on the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, 8/29 at 7 pm. Make sure to get your tickets early as these games are sure to sell out!

Head up to Morrison for the Oktoberfest Season Opener on Friday, 8/23 - Sunday, 8/25. This three-day German Fest includes plenty of beer, food, music and fun!
Spend your time sipping on German style beer by Prost Brewing Company and snacking on traditional dishes such as Bratwurst, Schnitzel, Spätzle, Strudel, Pretzel and more!

For one evening, enjoy some of the best food and wines from local restaurants all throughout Cherry Creek North. They will be serving up their best dishes paired with amazing wines starting at 5 pm. The event will also include beer, spirits and live music. All activities will be in Fillmore Square between East 1st Avenue and East 2nd Avenue in Cherry Creek North.
Rest up before you get to Denver, because you'll need a lot of energy to check out the many festivals the city hosts each year. In August, you can do fun things such as take part in an authentic Oktoberfest, sample some of the best burgers in town, and enjoy music and food from around the world.

Do something meaningful during your stay in Denver — register for AIDS Walk Colorado, an HIV and AIDS fundraiser with more than 8,000 participants. You'll get to see the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood during the 5K walk while also supporting a good cause.
After the walk, stick around for the Celebration of Life Festival, which features a display of AIDS Memorial Quilt panels, a Diva Dash Stiletto Fun Run, a volleyball tournament, live entertainment, and food vendors.
If you'll be in Denver in August, make sure to plan ahead to see some of this month's top comedians. On stage in August, you will find major stars such as Joe Rogan and Chevy Chase. If you love comedy, this is one of Denver events in August that will be sure to tickle your funny bone.
More laughs can be had at the Comedy Room Room. It hosts local and national improv, sketch, and stand-up performers. You can also have some brews, food and check out the karaoke if you want to have a laugh with your friends. Make sure to get there early as it is a small venue.

If you don't want to blow your vacation budget, plan to take advantage of the monthly museum "free days." These Denver events in August are popular, so make sure to show up early for your place in line!

One of the must see Denver events in August is "An Evening Under the Stars," a performance by the Colorado Ballet under the artistic direction of Gil Boggs. This medley of excerpts from past and future productions along with works both classical and contemporary showcases the company's talents. The performance starts at 7:30 pm.
How could you not want to see ballet in the beauty of the natural Colorado outdoors?

I'm sure you've heard about all the great concerts at Red Rocks, but did you know it's one of the most popular places for yoga on Saturday mornings in the Summer? In August, Yoga on the Rocks offers three one hour long sessions at Red Rocks.
Yoga starts at 7 am and runs until 8 am. Make sure to arrive a little early as this popular event sells out almost every time. This month's teachers include Beth Sanchez (8/3), Tracy Hamm (8/10), and Adriene Mishler (8/17). It is $16 per person.

The Rocky Mountain Car Show & Swap Meet is one of the truly great Denver events in August! This fun celebration offers you and your family the chance to learn all about the coolest cars and see them in up close and in person. You will also get a chance to see what is available for purchase as the swap meet and maybe pick something up for yourself.
The event is at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) in Broomfield. The show is from 8 am to 2 pm for one day only.

The National Western Complex will host this year's StreetLow Magazine Colorado Super Show. It's your chance to see more than 300 colorful cars from the lowrider community. It features a hop competition, live music, food from around the region, and a chile eating contest as well as a full day of fun. The Super Show starts at 11 am and runs until 7 pm.

The Colorado Classic Professional Bike Race is a great way to watch the pros in action. This is one of the family-friendly Denver events in August since everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer the racers on to victory. The race starts the first stage in Steamboat Springs. Stage Two begins 8 miles west of Vail in the city of Avon. Stage three is in Golden and Stage four is a road race in the city of Denver. The race is special this year as it is only for female professional riders.

New Belgium Brewing Company invites you to celebrate the two-wheel cycle at this year's Tour de Fat. The free event features food, beer, bikes, and live music. All ticket proceeds will go to help local bike non-profits. The ride starts out with a fun bike parade from 10 am to noon. There is live music, food, and of course beer, starting at 11 am and ending at 6 pm.
All activities will take place at New Belgium Brewing, 500 Linden St., Fort Collins, CO. Let's ride!
There are so many Denver events in August, but don't forget to check out what the surrounding area has to offer. Outside the Mile High City, you'll find fun events such as Venus de Miles (Colorado's largest women's benefit bike ride), a festival dedicated to corn, and all the great attractions at the state fair in Pueblo.
