Other Concerts in August

Pepsi Center

If you want to check out some of the other venues to see other concerts in August, some of the best locations include The Pepsi Center, The Paramount Theatre and Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom. One of the things I enjoy most about some of these other venues is that they are both small and intimate so you can get up close and personal to your favorite bands.

There is no better of the Denver events in August than seeing a movie in the spectacular Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Not only will you see a fun movie during your visit, you will also be able to enjoy live music and even see a comedian perform if you are lucky.

The first show presented was The Godfather and 65,000 people attended. Even though the venue holds many people, it is always best to purchase your tickets in advance so you can get exactly what you want since there are different levels of experiences.

Rockies Baseball

If you're looking for a family-friendly activity during your stay in Denver, attend a game by one of its pro sports teams. The historic Bandimere Speedway also welcomes drag-race fans this month.

Colorado Rockies: The MLB team plays 17 home games in August, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to catch a game during your stay in Denver. Once at Coors Field, look for the row of purple seats — it's exactly one mile high! 

Denver Broncos: Don't miss your chance to see the 2015 NFL Super Bowl champs as they prepare to battle the rest of the NFL. This month, the team plays two preseason games on their home turf at Mile High Stadium. You'll feel like a local among the proud hometown fans who'll be cheering on their champion team! 

Colorado Rapids: If you're a soccer fan, be sure to check out the Rapids during your visit. The MLS team usually plays two home games during the month of August and plays in the gorgeous outdoor Dick's Sporting Good Park.

Bandimere Speedway: Hot-rod fans should plan on visiting the picturesque Bandimere Speedway, also known as Thunder Mountain. The dragstrip holds events every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this month.

AIDS Walk Colorado


Date: Aug. 19, 2017

Location: Cheesman Park between 8th Ave. & 13th Ave. and Race St. & Humboldt St

Do something meaningful during your stay in Denver — register for AIDS Walk Colorado, an HIV and AIDS fundraiser with more than 8,000 participants. You'll get to see the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood during the 5K walk while also supporting a good cause. 

After the walk, stick around for the Celebration of Life Festival, which features a display of AIDS Memorial Quilt panels, a Diva Dash Stiletto Fun Run, a volleyball tournament, live entertainment, and food vendors.

This is one of the Denver events in August that began as a way to help neighbors get to know each other. Various neighborhoods, fire stations, and churches host block parties, park picnics, concerts, and activities. Participants can also volunteer for service projects that benefit the community.

Meet the locals, roll up your sleeves for a service project, and get a feel for what being a Denverite is really like. 

Comedy in August

Backstage at Beryls

If you'll be in Denver in late August, reserve your ticket now for Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable. This comedy duo performs Aug. 19th at the Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. If you love comedy, this is one of Denver events in August that will be sure to tickle your funny bone.

More laughs can be had at Backstage at Beryl's, a venue inside Beryl's Beer Company that hosts local and national improv, sketch, and standup performers. You can also play trivia and drinking games and check out unscripted reality TV and radio shows.

Art Museum in Denver

The Denver Art Museum has exhibits both coming and going in August, so make note of these dates. 

Some of the interesting exhibits that be on display include Canalletto: Masterwork Revisited which shows a masterpiece that has been restored over a full year after being found in the Museum's storage area. There are many more so make sure to schedule enough time to see everything that is offered.

One of the must see Denver events in August is "An Evening Under the Stars," a performance by the Colorado Ballet under the artistic direction of Gil Boggs. This medley of excerpts from past and future productions along with works both classical and contemporary showcases the company's talents.
